Coaching for Leaders and Managers: Foundation Course

Coaching for Leaders and Managers: Foundation course is aimed at participants new to coaching, or managers or leaders looking for a proven foundation and process for further skill development. The aims of this course are to demonstrate and encourage active engagement of workplace coaching, using the GROW coaching model as a framework. Participants will become accustomed to using the model as well as the skills required for successful coaching.

This course is the first of 2 courses offered within the Coaching for Leaders and Managers workshop series at AcademyGlobal. Participants will gain preliminary knowledge of workplace coaching and the GROW model. These learnings will then be applied towards 2 role-play coaching activities, where feedback is available immediately after.

Course Outline

  • Develop understanding of coaching essentials, the benefits of coaching and when to coach
  • Introduction to the GROW Model
  • Practice key skills required for coaching
  • Develop understanding of the role and importance of key components within the GROW Model
  • Practice key components of the GROW model
  • Apply listening and questioning skills
  • Participate in role-play coaching activity
  • Apply the GROW model to a given business scenario
  • Receive feedback
  • Apply the GROW model to own coaching scenario
  • Develop the outline for a coaching conversation with one direct report
  • Participate in role-play coaching activity using prepared material and receive feedback
