Corporate Restructuring & Turnaround
Restructuring and Turnaround is an exciting multi-disciplinary field which has come to prominence in Australia particularly since the Global Financial Crisis. At the core of this profession is a desire to restore corporate value to struggling organisations, and avoid the economic, social and personal consequences often attached to corporate failure.
AG’s commitment to the field of restructuring and turnaround is reflected in its academic partnerships with the University of Technology Sydney and the Turnaround Management Association (TMA), Australia.
Since 2009, we have been the course developers and facilitators of the ‘Strategic Management for Turnaround’ subject for the TMA in collaboration with accessUTS. This subject was developed in 2009 as a requirement for the internationally recognised ‘Certified Turnaround Analyst’ (CTA) and ‘Certified Turnaround Practitioner’ (CTP) designations.
Consistent with our commitment to academic research with a strong industry flavour, AG has been at the forefront of research and training to support the successful restructuring and turnaround of underperforming businesses. Our knowledge and understanding have also been developed through insights gained from interviews with large numbers of industry experts throughout Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
The cornerstone of our research is the identification of seven distinct but critical perspectives in the turnaround situation:
- Major bank lenders
- Restructuring and corporate advisors
- Private equity firms
- Distressed debt providers
- Non-executive directors
- Insolvency practitioner firms
- Legal advisors
